WHAT IT DOES
The medicine of the future is here. LaserMed treats chronic pain through state-of-the-art, pain-free, non-invasive, FDA-cleared laser and pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) medical technologies.
Are You Suffering From Nerve Pain?
Symptoms of neuropathy, a nerve disorder, typically starts as a tingling, burning, or numbness in the hands and/or feet, which can migrate to the arms and legs. These painful and uncomfortable symptoms can hinder you from many of the everyday things you enjoy most in life, like walking the dog, taking a stroll along the beach, holding hands, playing a round of golf or playing cards. With our technological advancements in medicine and therapy, it is now possible to live pain-free and regain your quality of life.
Futuristic Medicine Offers Safe Solution to Neuropathy
Back in the late 1960s, Star Trek aired on NBC. In this television series, Doc McCoy used space age tools to instantly heal his fellow explorers. He’d whip out his medical scanner, wave it a few inches above the injured area and get an instant diagnosis. Then, he’d take his trusty laser scalpel, work his magic and seal the deal with an auto-suture. Who would have dreamed that in 40 years laser and PEMF technologies—medical treatments similar to those imagined by Star Trek’s creator—could successfully treat serious pain and mobility issues? I guess you could say that today, life truly is imitating art.
LaserMed uses cutting-edge laser and magnetic therapies to offer solutions to neuropathy. By simply applying these technologies to the afflicted areas while you lay back and relax, it’s common to experience reduced swelling and inflammation, improved circulation, and stem cell regeneration. As a result, the burning, tingling, and numbness caused by neuropathy is typically greatly reduced or eliminated—allowing you to once again live life on your terms.
Sounds Too Good to be True, Right?
LaserMed has turned countless skeptics into believers. Our satisfied patients include engineers, doctors, nurses, former professional athletes, celebrities, baby booms and seniors—people from every walk of life. Some of them came to us with doubts about laser and PEMF technology, but were desperate to get rid of chronic knee pain and didn’t want to turn to drugs, injections or surgery. A two-hour exam and consultation with world-famous Dr. Phillip Yoo D.C. is all it takes to determine if you’re a candidate for these cutting edge treatments.
Many medical doctors are big believers in laser and PEMF therapies. Other, more traditional doctors are not always up to speed on this new medicine of the future and instead promote drugs, injections and surgery. Many patients who pour their money into these old school “remedies” don’t achieve the results they want and later turn to us.
Think about it like this … it wasn’t all that long ago that barbaric procedures like lobotomies, bloodletting or trepanation (drilling holes in the skull) were actually thought to be good for a patient’s health. I imagine that 20, 50 or 100 years from now, many of today’s common medical procedures like pills, injections and surgery will be considered just as cringeworthy! LaserMed believes that non-invasive medicine like laser and PEMF is the future of medicine.
Is Laser or PEMF Therapy Right for You?
Here’s the deal: the only way to know if laser or PEMF is right for you is to visit us for a consultation/exam. While we can’t help everyone, LaserMed has hundreds of clinical case studies on file that you can review where our happy patients share with you in their own words about their experience with laser and PEMF therapies. You can review many of these clinical case studies on this website.
HOW IT WORKS …
While modern light-based and magnetic medicines may sound space-age, they’re grounded in long-standing principles grounded in the healing power of light as well as discoveries by NASA. To understand how it works, it’s important to begin with the origins of neuropathy.
What Causes Neuropathy
Neuropathy is a condition that impacts the peripheral nerves. There are three types of peripheral nerves: motor, sensory and automatic. Their function is to connect the spinal cord to muscles, skin and internal organs. When these nerves are not working properly, they cause uncomfortable and sometimes painful symptoms that typically start in the hands and/or feet. These sensations can also migrate to the arms and legs.
Nerve damage commonly occurs when the protective covering of the nerves, known as the myelin sheath, is damaged. When this occurs, the nerve loses its ability to transmit normal signals throughout the body, causing neuropathic pain, numbness, weakness, etc.
When a nerve is damaged, it can affect any area of the body. Essentially, the nerves act as a highway from the brain to the rest of your body to deliver information. Any area of the body can be affected by neuropathy. The affected area can include joints, muscles, internal organs, skin or a combination of these areas of the body.
It’s estimated by The Neuropathy Association that approximately 20 million Americans suffer from this disorder. While it can occur at any age, it is most common in boomers and seniors. Diabetes is the predominant cause, accounting for around 30% of neuropathy cases. Other causes include auto immune disorders, toxins/poisons, chemotherapy, infections, trauma, vitamin deficiencies, tumors and excessive alcohol. Regardless of its origin, all cases of neuropathy can be effectively remedied in most patients by laser and/or PEMF therapies.
The photobiostimulation provided by laser helps regenerate the nerve’s outer myelin sheath. Laser penetrates deep into the tissues. The blast of photonic energy increases the circulation by increasing nitric oxide production to open up the blood vessels. This enables your body to better pump its life-giving blood supply to all areas of the body, including those negatively impacted by neuropathy.

Laser Therapy
Einstein’s Quantum Theory of Light can in many ways be credited with the advent of modern laser technology in medicine. The basics, such as the importance of Vitamin D from the sunlight and lights ability to heal wounds is common knowledge. Yet, light’s impact on medicine is growing exponentially with the integration of various forms of laser into medical procedures.
Medical-grade, non-invasive laser therapy harnesses the healing power of light into a strong beam, enabling the light to penetrate deep into the damaged tissue, generating a photochemical response. The laser beam is super-pulsed to safely and effectively stimulate healing, improve circulation and reduce inflammation.
Dr. Yoo D.C. and the LaserMed team use 60-watt, 250-watt and M6 MLS robotic laser technologies to treat chronic knee pain. LaserMed clinics are the first and only on the West Coast to use this revolutionary treatment technology from Germany and Italy. The 60-watt laser is used in areas the doctor recommends less intensity, the 250-watt laser is used to achieve deeper penetration and robotic laser is used for areas that require greater precision.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy
PEMF is an FDA approved therapy that delivers magnetic pulses to aid in the repair of damaged cells, tissue, ligaments, cartilage and bone. Like laser therapy, PEMF is 100% painless.
Age and illness are not the only factors that can cause bones and muscles to weaken—it turns out zero-gravity has the same effect! Because of this, NASA put $3.5 million into magnetic therapy studies in recent years to find ways to maintain astronauts’ strength and well-being while away from earth’s magnetic field. Without the resistance of gravity, they experience bone loss and muscle atrophy. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy has proved successful in being able to counter these effects, so that we can keep sending astronauts to the moon or beyond without their missions being impeded by the degenerative effects of a gravity-free environment.
Patient sits back and relaxes while undergoing state-of-the-art PEMF therapy on his knee.
PEMF therapy consists of a non-invasive method of delivering strong magnetic pulses that detoxify and regenerate cells and accelerate bone, tissue, and ligament repair. NASA’s findings have significantly advanced the development of PEMF technology and devices; their ultimate goal was to create a suit for astronauts that would use built-in magnetic therapy to counter muscle degeneration.
While a pain-relieving therapy suit is still a bit far off for us non-space-travelers, we have been able to use the same technology here on Earth to treat patients suffering from chronic knee pain. Here at 21st Century Pain Institute, we use the MagnaCharger PEMF device—the latest equipment in PEMF technology. This method has worked wonders as a supplement to laser therapy, and as an alternative for the few patients that did not respond well to laser.
LaserMed has been successfully using PEMF therapy for years. Electromagnetic energy plays an important role in regulating body chemistry. Dr. Oz put it most eloquently when he said “your body has a raging electrical storm inside that controls every cell, every nerve, every muscle, every thought.” When this energy is impeded, it can negatively impact your body’s health down to the cellular level and make itself known in the form of chronic pain. Strong, magnetic pulses can help get the 75 trillion cells in your body back to proper function. That’s because magnetic medicine can penetrate deep into your body, where other medical treatments cannot.
PEMF is an FDA approved therapy—backed by more than 1,600 published studies in the Library of Medicine. The technology is improving every day, but the type of equipment used is important to getting good results. LaserMed uses the MagnaCharger PEMF device, which is considered the “Rolls Royce” of magnetic therapy.
Benefits of MagnaCharger PEMF Therapy
MagnaCharger PEMF therapy offers more power and better results than ever, delivering magnetic pulses to help:
• Reduce pain and inflammation
• Generate platelet adhesion to repair vascular injury
• Improve circulation, blood and tissue oxygenation
• Improve energy and sleep quality
• Promote healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels
• Cellular detoxification and the ability to regenerate cells
• Balance the immune system
• Accelerate repair of bone, soft tissue and ligaments
• Relax muscles and reduce the effects of stress on the body
